Counselling & Holistic Therapies

Counselling
Offering an integrative approach to counselling, meaning sessions are client led using techniques from differing therapeutic disciplines, depending on your needs. A confidential, safe place where you are heard. Giving you time to explore issues in your life within a non-judgemental, open and trusting relationship with a professional. This can help you to find resolutions and develop coping strategies. All our counsellors work to a trauma-informed practice, working with clients who have experienced passed trauma. These sessions will assist to build on emotional and physical stability and resilience, external safety and coping strategies, and lead to a positive growth in wellbeing.

Mindfulness
Our Mindfulness therapy sessions teach you to maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment.
Learning the means of acceptance, paying attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgement, or believing, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When practicing mindfulness, our thoughts atune to what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.

Intensive Relaxation
Relaxation techniques are practices to help bring about the body’s “relaxation response,” which is characterised by slower breathing, lower blood pressure, and a reduced heart rate. The relaxation response is the opposite of the stress response. All leading to a happier, healthier you.
-
Progressive Relaxation: Also called progressive muscle relaxation, this technique involves tensing different muscles in your body and then releasing the tension.
-
Autogenic Training: Through a series of mental exercises involving relaxation and ideas you suggest to yourself (autosuggestion), your mind focuses on your body’s experience of relaxation.
-
Guided Imagery or “Visualisation”: In guided imagery, you picture objects, scenes, or events that are associated with relaxation or calmness and attempt to produce a similar feeling in your body.
-
Self-Hypnosis: In self-hypnosis programs, people learn to produce the relaxation response when prompted by a phrase or nonverbal cue (called a “suggestion”) of their own.
-
Breathing Exercises: For breathing exercises, you might focus on taking slow, deep breaths—also called diaphragmatic breathing.
